Expectations vs Reality: Cangcua-Ay Private Beach Resort, Oslob Cebu

Hello there!

It’s been a while since my last post. I’ve been busy with work and school for the past months; that’s why! Anyway, it is summertime again and same as you; I am also busy scanning and reading blogs of the best places to visit around Cebu or Cities nearby; then I suddenly realize I’d been to different places lately as well that I missed sharing in my own blog.

The first entry of the year our “Expectations vs Reality” experience in one of the beaches in the south a Cebu. There was a time where this place was trending online that even my friends abroad were asking me about it. So, out of curiosity, we set forth to Cangcua-ay Beach Resort, Tan-awan, Oslob, Cebu.

This was the expectation…So enticing, isn't it?

*Credits to the owner of the photos. Photos were taken online.

And this is  "REALITY".

Is the hammock familiar? Where is the blue enticing water? hahaha! The benefit of the doubt; maybe we went there on a different weather condition. I searched for other bloggers who visited the place if someone could post a similar photo as the ad online but I didn't see any, just correct me if I'm wrong but this was just based on our experience.  I am setting the correct expectation here. hahaha!

These photos were edited just to set proper expectations. hahaha!

Overall, we enjoyed our trip eventhough a li'l bit disappointed that the place did not meet our expectations; but as I keep on saying to my friends that it's not about the place but the people you are making memories with, to make it more amazing. Moral of this travel; we should not expect too much and we should not rely on what we just see and read online. Photo editing plays a deceiving role nowadays. For us bloggers, we should be true in every blog that we post. Readers depend on the information and photos we are providing. I am too sometimes is guilty of this crime (good thing, I am not that good in photo editing. hahaha!).

"When you have expectations, you are setting yourself up for disappointment."

Tumalog Falls, Oslob Cebu

Last January of 2016, we had an abrupt road trip to Oslob. Our target destination was Cancuaay Beach Resort but we made a lot of side-trips/dropped-by along the way. Tumalog falls was included in the side trips. The falls is also located in Oslob, 170 kilometers away from Cebu City. There were a lot of visitors at that time that we just follow the trail of tourists until we arrived at the area where we parked the car and walked our way to the falls.

This heritage map we found in the area lead us to another destination for us that day, the Cuartel. Below is waterfall's rules and regulations:

It was a steep slope down the way.

Nah, you don't have to do such acts..We are just being playful...

As you can see, the water stream was so thin. The water basin was so cold and full of local and foreign tourists bathing. We're just their not to dip into the water but to witness the beauty of the place. I was quite discouraged by the thin water streaming down but maybe because it was January and approaching summer.

Before I publish this long overdue blog, I looked for the latest photos of the falls and I'm glad that it is coming back to its natural beauty.

The Thrifty Wanderer has been to Tumalog Falls!!!

Sarnimian Inland Resort, Rosario, Agusan del Sur

Part of our tour around CARAGA, was a side-trip to Sarnimian Inland Resort located in Rosario, Agusan Del Sur. We went there riding a motorcycle we borrowed from a friend.

The place is easy to be found since their signage is just along the national highway.

We visited the place on a weekday, so there were only a few guests in the resort. I got a photo of some important information about the place, for readers' reference. Please note that this is not a sponsored or paid blog :)

A crocodile slide.

We went there to have our lunch and to try their Sky-biking for only 50pesos. Amazing..! I forgot to take photos of their menu but it's affordable as far as I can remember.

They are still improving the place, I am hoping they add more activities aside from sky-biking.

We didn't have much time to linger in the place but we love our sky-biking experience and our short visit to Sarnimian Inland Resort was added to our places visited around CARAGA.

Ocean View Park & International Doll House, Bislig, Surigao del Sur

Next destination in our itinerary is the Ocean View Park and International Doll House, or simply OVP & International Doll House. It's also in Bislig, you can visit it before you go to Tinuy-an Falls or after; either way. Your choice!

Entrance is only 20pesos, if you're not going to visit the Doll House it's consumable in the restaurant.

With 280+ small step stairs towards the top.

That's the entire dollhouse.

With different dolls from other places.

They have available dolls from other countries that are also for sale. The pretty dolls below are from Switzerland and was for sale for 150 pesos. They also have ref magnets and key-holders for souvenirs.

This is the restaurant on top.

They got this small playground with unicorn and you can see the view of entire Bislig City.

 View from the top.

We allotted 30-45 minutes only in the area. We still have two places to visit. Our goal was to tick-off the Doll House in our list and we did! OVP & International Doll House...Checked!!!
